A People's History of the City of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Introduction
A learning framework for uncovering historical truths requires equity and would incorporate all perspectives pertaining to a significant historical time/period/event, have equal amounts of information shared, foster viewpoint diversity, and honor difference and similarities. Historical truths should be treated with the same merit and respect of knowledge, made accessible to all in as many ways as possible, and inclusive of forms of knowledge not normally expected or required.
Communication of historical knowledge can be gathered and learned not solely in written form, but also through oral history narratives, migration stories, origin legends, different languages, cultural dances, poetry, art and theater. Artifacts and archeology tell the story of social changes, as well as well as our interactions with the environment, just as the history of plants, geology, and ice core samples provide an understanding of our natural world. This shared knowledge and collective wisdom has the power to inform our society, shape our laws and social policies, and serve as a guide for future generations. Listen, actively, seek resources to enhance your learning, and challenge complacency.
This ArcGIS StoryMap is a tool to enhance learning and build a deeper understanding of our shared history with more information about some of the most historically significant places in Santa Fe and the surrounding area. Click on a box or blue marker on the map to read a brief description. Plan a guided tour of the City Different for your family and visitors and enjoy the journey!

In October, 2022 an augmented reality component was added to the City's historical StoryMaps, which adds a new dimension to the layers of understanding of our history and connection to place. Artists were invited to develop historical perspectives through an artistic lens that links the StoryMaps with a broader perspective that can be used as prompts for further discussion of culture and history. The gifts of these brilliant artists have opened new windows of perception in the digital realm and are an inspiration to future generations to share stories through new and creative ways.
