Summer in Seattle

In the summer after my second year, I went to Seattle and worked with Taproot Theatre as a musical theatre teaching intern.

In addition to gaining experience working in the theatre industry, my time at Taproot introduced me to lifelong friends!

My roommate was a fellow Grinnellian in my year pursuing a film internship, and we made art on the daily in our residence and during our travels around Seattle.

24x7 @ NTI

In the fall of my third year, I studied off-campus at the National Theater Institute (NTI) in Waterford, Connecticut. Although the program is based on the East Coast, we also did a two-week residency in London.

Among all the work we did, we wrote and staged our own original plays and musicals. The included photos are from a staged reading of an original Dungeons & Dragons-themed musical (written by one of my cohort members) and a performance of one of the final pieces we devised.

Live from New York

Needless to say, we looked forward to our rare trips to New York City to watch shows on and off-Broadway!

Theatre For A New Audience's production of Fefu and Her Friends changed the way I thought theatre could be experienced by an audience.

AND! I got to witness Tom Hiddleston onstage to celebrate my 21st birthday!

Last Stop in London

After my semester at NTI came to an end, I traveled back to London to spend time with my best friend (and now roommate!)  Conner  as he finished up his Grinnell-in-London program.

We watched new shows, ate some tasteless British fish and chips, and explored the city some more - including a trip to Hogwarts and visits to the famed Globe Theatre!
