Gi your world

The campaign of the DVW working group "Geodata Management"

Gi your world

In a world facing challenges such as climate change, urbanization and global resource scarcity, effective geodata management is essential.

“Gi your world” describes an innovative and future-oriented geodata management that meets the challenges of our time. This is based on central building blocks that together offer a holistic solution for modern societies.

The principle of “Gi your world” includes the requirement that spatial information is recorded precisely, processed reliably and made generally accessible.

The basis for sustainable, transparent and accepted decisions is created with valuable knowledge through analyses and linking relevant data sources with geodata. Decision-makers and relevant people get a complete overview of almost all issues.

Social added value, promotion of sustainable development, support of innovation processes and efficient management of social challenges are the results of “Gi your world”.

The triad of BigGi, Gi4D and GiValues to form “Gi your world” symbolizes the integration of geoinformation in all areas of life. The focus is not on collecting data, but on connecting it in a meaningful way and making it accessible.

"Gi your world" promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and supports innovations in areas such as smart cities, autonomous driving and sustainable resource management.

BigGi

BigGi is the integrative, quality assured and publicly accessible geodatabase.

"BigGi" at a glance

  • BigGi combines data from different sources and subject references with geodata.
  • The basis of BigGi is a comprehensive, redundancy- and contradiction-free, quality-assured, both current and geometrically accurate official geodata base, which continuously and efficiently provides standardized interfaces.
  • Specialist information can be used by BigGi without conflict based on its spatial reference and is correctly aggregated.
  • BigGi creates a database for holistic considerations and decisions on all socio-political issues of any magnitude, such as climate change, urbanization or demographic change.
  • Free and commercial software components access BigGi on the user side to present relevant information on specific issues in a compact form.
  • Integration and interoperability in and between all BigGi-based business systems are a matter of course, as is data protection compliance.

Gi4D

Gi4D generates new knowledge as a basis for holistic decisions.

"Gi4D" at a glance

  • Gi4D creates new knowledge by aggregating relevant information from a wide variety of complex issues depending on the question and target group.
  • Based on BigGi, all relevant data is provided via device and location-independent applications.
  • All GI4D data can be accessed efficiently, is available at short notice and is intuitive to use.
  • In order to best address user-specific questions, the necessary depth of information as well as analysis and recording tools as needed are provided, depending on access authorizations.
  • Gi4D is the transparent and comprehensible provision of information in order to support decision-making processes in all situations in a targeted manner and to be able to derive suggestions for measures automatically.
  • Decision-making processes rely on BigGi and become sustainable and transparent in accordance with the values of Gi4D.

GiValues

GiValues are added values for the society, created on the basis of BigGi and Gi4D.

"GiValues" at a glance

  • GiValues are quantitative and qualitative values that arise as a result of the interaction between BigGi and Gi4D.
  • Quantitative values include, for example, reduced costs due to time savings in the availability of relevant data, shorter travel times, shorter project times and more efficient use of resources.
  • Qualitative values can be found in the increased transparency of decisions, more complete situation reports for emergency services, acceptance of projects through the involvement of all stakeholders, and sustainable decisions to create livable spaces and regions.
  • GiValues also creates sustainable, easily understandable knowledge for society, politics, business and science.
